Probably the first time i have posted a song even before the release of the movie or even the entire album. Such is the excitement generated by this song. After a long time A R Rahman has come up with such a soothing melody which tugs at your heart. It seems he always has his best reserved for Mani Ratnam. Don't know if the album will have better songs than this, but this sure has cranked up the expectations. An amazing launch pad for two debut actors too. And to note that this is just the unplugged version of the song with the original under wraps still. Vairamuthu as always at his usual elegant poetic self

Kya Hai Mohabbat (with meaning)- Ek Dheewana Tha

The best music of A R Rahman according to me is his initial period in Tamil cinema. And the music he delivers in Hindi and English movies is not much upto those levels. Jodha Akbar was one exception to that. Even in this latest hindi movie he has used the same tunes from Vinaithandi varuvaya. One additional song is different from the original. This particular song now seems to be best pick of the album. Javed Akthar yet again plays his magic and tells one how confusing and pure love is. And hearing a song in ARR voice after a long time with such a tune is just the best one can ask for. ARR has the knack of choosing the right song to sing for himslef every time he does it.

Lyrics of Nalla Nanban - Nanban

The music of Nanban was always an expected one for the main reason that Harris Jeyaraj will give one a melody treat. Even though the songs sound familiar in all his films they still go on be hits. The song "Asku Laksa" with the word 'love' in 16 languages is such a rage which can easily be said as the most popular song of the album. This particular song "Nalla Nanban" has some soul stirring simple melody with the flute and piano enhancing it multifold. The lyrics of the song is the main thing which brings out tears to the viewer. It conveys the cry and the pain of losing a friend and the sacrifice one is willing to make for a friend. Hats off to the lyricist for such wonderful lyrics. Surely a song which would be high up in my list of new songs.
