Semmozhiyaana Tamizh Mozhiyaam

This solo piece was created as an anthem by the Mozart of madras for the world classical Tamil conference. For such a huge event who other than the Great Tamil Scholar M. Karunanidhi can write lyrics. It was a colossal meeting of greats for creating a master piece and am sure no single person can make it magnificent. Keeping with the enormity of the occasion over 30 playback singers and around 15 chorus singers have sung. Not to mention the video has been directed by Gautam Menon.

An eagerly awaited movie just for the sake of its director, music director and star cast would be a gross understatement for this film. A combination which has not see failure and also touted to be the best is back. One of my all time favourite director-music director come with the super hyped film of the year. The songs which were released in Hindi first were a super duper hit immediately. And the tamil came so silently... This song is a typical ARR melody composition with soft and innovative music and sublime use of drums. The lyrics of Vairamuthu shows the amount of pain one undergoes when he knows what he wants is wrong. Karthik's voice feels like magic and goes deep into the soul of the song. A song i simply cant stop hearing. Expecting the movie to be the best and cinematography need not be worried upon.

This film is a Trilingual with the same soundtracks used both in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu. The same singer has been used in HIndi too. Am not sure of the telugu version.

A song which gives me goosebumps even after hearing it millions of times. Soulful rendering by Hariharan and K.S. Chitra simply makes this song a must hear. Cinematography by Rajiv Menon and direction by Mani Ratnam adds asthetic feel to the song. Though there are other songs like "Antha Arabic" and "Kannalanae" which were also huge blockbusters, this song remains my favorite among all from this album. Not to forget the haunting Theme Music/Title Track this film had. This film got a number of awards natably "Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration" for Mani Ratnam, Filmfare award for A.R. Rahman and Tamil Nade State award for both A.R.Rahman and Vairamuthu. One of the films which helped A.R.R to reach the pinnacle he is in now.

This film is a bilingual with the same soundtracks used both in Tamil and Hindi. For this song Kavitha Krishnamurthy replaces K.S. Chitra in Hindi.

Azhagae Sugama - Parthale Paravasam

Chanced upon this song in in youtube today and remembered how wonderful it was listening to the songs of this film. There were other songs which stood out but this is my fav from Parthale Paravasam. A wonderful star cast and Kamal Hasan's cameo failed to ring the cash registers, but A.R.R'S magical melody touch remained forever. Srinivas voice and a new Sadhana Sargam were really a perfect foil for each other. The movie is better known as K.B.'s 100th film and was in his usual style dealing with relationships.

I fell in love with this song the moment i heard it. James Vasanthan sure rocks with his melodies. Why the hell did he come so late into music direction. This song from the yet to be released Naanayam has Tamil cinemas most adored singers singing. A magical duet from them after a long time. Worth the wait i say!!!! No more to say about this song. Just hear it. Be sure to crank up your volume and hear the improvisation by both of them. Chitra's humming after the initial pallavi and SPB's naughty laugh at the middle of the first line of second line are awesome. Thamarai has done well here. Whom do i appreciate.. James or SPB or Chitra... am clueless.. Hope justice is done to the picturization.

Was surprised when i heard this song in FM. A new tune and something was different. Had i missed the audio launches? The film's audio had directly been released in the stores and the reviews went unnoticed. The song does have an infectious feel and makes you tap your foot. Well sung. Toooooo much from a debut music director who has sung and even wrote the lyrics himself. This is a gr8 start and hopes he continues. The other songs like "Unnai Partha Pinbu - Haricharan, Marrianne - Vaali" and "Oru Kili Oru Kili - Shreya Ghosal, Satish Chakravarthy - Vaali" do deserve a mention.
