This album had gone unnoticed for quite a long while. Nor did the movie become known neither did the music. All these changed when the movie bagged 3 national awards. With much curiosity saw the movie and the actress saranya ponvannan carried the movie right from the start to the end. The album has quite a few surprises to offer especially this song with awesome lyrics by Vairamuthu which fetched him his 6th national award. Singer Vijay Prakash seems to be climbing up the chart with each and every song his gets and it seems he will be soon seen in every music album that comes out. First time music director N.R. Rahnanthan does a commendable job in this album. May more of his future albums get noticed. Unni Menon's second version of the same song ought to be mentioned in this space too.

With a lot of films being churned week after week lots of songs have been coming up. The quality of them are not so worthy considering most are masala flick or movies which stay only for a day in theaters. Also many new music directors are coming up which makes one difficult to keep track of them. This song is from such a debut music director and every song are good to hear. I had a liking to this song mainly for the fun lyrics and the music grew on me slowly. The lyrics are sure fun to listen and when listening the other song on can say that the album is decent one and worth listening for quite a while.

I have always been a critic of Yuvan Shankar Raja's music considering that he churns out album after album of which none stands for a long duration in one's memories. There have been some amazing exceptions which will sure stand the test of time and they are far and few. Yuvan's melodies have a different touch when compared to his other songs in the album. The sad soul the reverberates your senses are just amazing and would put any person to pain. Also personally am not a fan of his voice too. This particular song which i describe below is an excpetion to it. His voice has the pain which needs to be conveyed and the soft music is sure a big plus for this song. The video and situation of the song in the film add such a beauty to the song which would make one to have a lump in their throat. Not to forget the simple lyrics which reach far into the senses. This would sure be one of my favorites and Yuvan has proved again that he can be relied for sad melodies.

Neela Vaanam - Manmadhan Ambu

I always had a intuition that Devi Sri Prasad can give wonderful melodies which can mesmerize the listener. The fact is proven from his albums like Santosh Subramaniam, Sachien etc.. Of late he tends to use to too much metalica and give peppy songs to attract the audience and his showmanship make me dislike him a bit. In this album though there are songs of those kind, he has given us a wonderful melody in Neela Vaanam. The album which has India's most versatile film persona Padmashree Kamal Hasan penning lyrics in his own style for all the songs. Some songs of his speak about things which are considered taboo in the society especially "Kannodu Kanai". He really deserves a great applause for it. This particular song 'Neela Vaanam" has simple classical piano music which is pleasant to hear. Kamal in his usual high pitch voice shines especially in the end of the charanam. The female voice is used in two or three places jus to show variety. The chorus bit in the middle takes one by surprise. Overall a decent song and a better album from DSP.

Nenjil Nenjil Idho Idho - Engeyum Kaadhal

This song comes from a combo which has delivered a hit song every time they come together. Earlier the singers with their solo delivered hits and now both the singers come together. And the result is another amazing composition. The lyrics are refreshing and it is from a new kid on the block - karky. His previous song's lyrics still are a fav with the audience and this is another hit in his career. May he attain success like his father - Vairamuthu. The overall album has some other good songs (Engeyum Kaadhal and Dhimu Dhimu deserve mention), but this is best of the lot. As ever this album too feels like the hangover of his previous albums. Harris once again proves that romantic melodies are his forte. Personally would like to hear more of him ofter considering the long gap between this album and his previous one. Looking forward to how the pictures turns out to be considering the excellent quality of the music.

Two days back, was humming this song for a long time. The music and the singing kept me interested in this and decided to put up the lyrics of this here.

A song from persons who needed no introduction. Simple poetical lyrics with melodious music couple with unnikrishnan's soulful voice and kavitha's sharp tone gives us a wonderful chart-buster. Not to mention the other songs in this movie like "Nadhiye Nadhiye", "Thaniye" etc were also chart-busters. The beauty of this entire album is that the 5 songs were inspired by nature's 5 elements. The film was dubbed in telugu as Rhythm and the same tunes were used in the Hindi film Lakeer.

Semmozhiyaana Tamizh Mozhiyaam

This solo piece was created as an anthem by the Mozart of madras for the world classical Tamil conference. For such a huge event who other than the Great Tamil Scholar M. Karunanidhi can write lyrics. It was a colossal meeting of greats for creating a master piece and am sure no single person can make it magnificent. Keeping with the enormity of the occasion over 30 playback singers and around 15 chorus singers have sung. Not to mention the video has been directed by Gautam Menon.
